How often do two of the greatest guitarists get together on the stage for a whole set, and then put it on DVD for us to witness. Well here you go! Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather did it for us here on this DVD, and boy am I glad they did. The venue tried to advertise it as a competition, but Larry and Steve work wonderfully together as one here.

It starts out with the fabulous Chris Kent on bass starting the groove to “The Pump”, one of Jeff Beck’s classics. I hope you’re in good shape ’cause it’s hard to catch your breath after these two trade solo’s. The whole DVD is like that, with Steve’s soaring rock-jazz licks followed by the electrified, and tasty trips we are taken on by the inspired Larry Carlton.

With other songs like “Red House” and Steely Dan’s “Room 335″, this DVD delivers all the guitar you could ever want in one show.

The Sound and picture quality is superb. Gary Ferguson plays drums and Rick Jackson is on Keyboards, and both are pro’s pro’s. Near the end, Kent get’s his chance, and just goes off on the bass!

Mannnnn this is hot hot hot, enjoy! Carlton Lukather Band -- The Paris Concert

This is an absolute blast to play with. You know how normally you sit down in your room, and try to come up with some groove to get a song going, and nothing seems to sound good enough to start off with? Well, when I got the JamMan, I soon figured out to try almost any lick to start with, and just go with it, and build on it. It’s amazing how something that you thought was just an ordinary boring lick, can become a cool song when you start adding parts on top of it. You can just multitrack on the fly. The JamMan makes songwriting so much easier. In 5 minutes you can tell if you have a keeper, as opposed to trying to either write and record a whole song, or sit around and wait for your band to get inspired, and then all agree to go forward with an idea.

You can record 99 loops up to 6.5 hrs, cd quality 44.1 khz sampling rate, USB connection, XLR input, and it’s just plain impossible to stop toying with it, once you start. I love this thing, and wish I hadn’t waited so long to get one. It’s a must now, when I go into my studio to write. A-budea-budea-budea-That’s all folks!

This is one of many players I’ve discovered since joining Myspace Music. Yves is from France. His playing is flawless and I hear a little bit of Steve Morse in his music. He does claim both Steve and his bass player Dave Larue as influences. He names Larue obviosly because Yves plays amazing bass on his cuts also.

I love his song “drunk” on his Myspace site. It definitely shows of his tasteful speed runs, his fantastic bass playing and songwriting ability. Oh, and did I forget to mention that he also covers drums. He could not keep up with the music if he wasn’t a hot drummer also, it’s just that great.

All his songs are excellent and never get boring. How does someone this good hang under the radar for so long. Oh well I guess the world will have to stay in the dark for awhile while we get the great privelege of listening to the good stuff like Yves Sordage. He IS the real deal and will for sure keep the sizzle in your fries. O.k. that was goofy, I know. Check him out, he should not be unknown.

I first came upon Wojtek Pilichowski as I was searching on you tube for slap bass videos. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This guy was all over his instrument with tenacity and grace like I’ve never seen before.

Wojtek is from Poland. Aquiring his cd’s began a job that took over a year to finally obtain what I wanted. I was quite the jovial little man when they finally arrived in the mail and soon began enjoying his amazing ability to slap, pop and tap to some extremely cool jazz-rock fusion grooves. His finger style is equally tight and he has no problem going to the back and holding up the bottom for his mates.

Go to you tube and get a glimpse of him and you will see what I mean. In the last few years he has begun to get some recognition in the states after playing at one of the big bass clinics in New York. I always get a funny look when I mention his name to my musician friends and a “who?” shortly after, but once they get a listen they are immediatly hooked. Don’t miss out, go check out this graceful monster of the bass. you’ll be glad you did!

He is, in my unbiased opinion, one of the most underrated guitarists in the world. I witnessed him first-hand garner screams down the stairwell to turn it down from our very patient grandmother. His lifetime commitment to learn, play, and honor the music of Jimi Hendrix since those days in our bedroom downstairs has produced the most perfect note for note show you will ever see. If you get the chance to see his live show, be ready to be entertained by an exciting array of tricks and gymnastics with his axe and body. He’s always on the move onstage and usually enters the crowd during the show.

I am proud to say he is my brother, and Randy…. I love you with all my heart and hope you get the full recognition and respect due to you before this is all over with. Otherwise be carefull what you eat and don’t turn it down, turn it up brother!
